The Dauntless servers are set to shut down on May 29, 2025. If you’re aiming to secure the free Xbox game on your profile before it disappears permanently, now’s the time to dive into those Dauntless achievements.
The official announcement from the Dauntless team revealed that on May 29, 2025, the game’s servers would cease to operate. This online-only, free-to-play action RPG, reminiscent of Monster Hunter, won’t receive any more updates or content additions. While they haven’t specified why they’re closing the servers, it’s clear that once they’re gone, all of Dauntless’s achievements will go with them. If you were hoping to knock out all achievements, keep in mind that the “Entered the Gauntlet” achievement, which involves earning a Crest from Gauntlet mode, is already unavailable unless you’ve already completed it.
Despite this, Dauntless has enjoyed a healthy lifespan since its 2019 launch, offering 13 free title updates. With these updates, there’s another 1,000 Gamerscore up for grabs across the DLC packs. To complete everything except for the already discontinued achievement, it would likely take between 360 to 480 hours of gameplay—a significant time investment before the servers close.
So, what do you think? Did Dauntless capture your interest during its run? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments. On a related note, Capcom made headlines with news of shutting down Resident Evil: ReVerse recently.
