After a couple of weeks of buzzing tariff discussions, we finally have a date for when Switch 2 preorders will kick off in the U.S.
In a recent announcement, Nintendo shared that eager fans can start preordering the Switch 2 on April 24, which falls on a Thursday. At the moment, the pricing stands firm with the standalone system at $449.99, while those opting to bundle it with a digital copy of Mario Kart World will be looking at $499.99.
However, Nintendo did add a bit of a twist by alerting us to potential changes in accessory prices due to ongoing circumstances. The Switch 2 Pro Controller now comes with a new price tag of $84.99, which is $5 more than before. Meanwhile, if you’re planning to grab an extra set of Joy-Cons, be prepared to shell out $94.99 for a pair—also a $5 increase. For those needing an extra dock set, it’s now priced at $119.99, a $10 bump. Additionally, extra Joy-Con straps have nudged up by a dollar, now costing $13.99. Other accessories also saw a $5 hike. If you’re curious about all the updated hardware prices and want to check out the cost for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, you’ll find a complete list right here in this article.
In Canada, it’s expected that preorders will roll out on the same day. However, don’t hold your breath for an official confirmation today due to a national holiday. Despite the silence from retailers, Nintendo of Canada has affirmed both the launch date and Canadian pricing will align with the U.S. details.
