As March 20 approaches, fans of Assassin’s Creed are buzzing with excitement for the release of Shadows, and Ubisoft Brasil has cooked up a nostalgic treat for them. They’ve crafted a promotional video that pays homage to the classic tokusatsu shows we all love—think Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.
In this delightful piece, characters Yasuke and Naoe lead the charge. Brazilian social media icons Ruan “jogazulu” Silva and Thais Matsufugi bring these roles to life as stars of a fictional TV show called Guerreiros das Sombras, or in plain English, Shadow Warriors. True to tokusatsu flair, we see these characters transform from their everyday selves into dynamic heroes. They battle faceless minions, accompanied by dramatic explosions and a killer theme song from Brazilian power metal legend Edu Falaschi.
The video’s description stirs up some nostalgia as well: “You’ve just come home from school, gathered your friends, grabbed a snack, and turned on the TV. It’s time for your favorite show… but this time, the adventure unfolds in Feudal Japan!” This journey down memory lane is beautifully executed and even ends with a thrilling cliff-hanger. Viewers are left hanging as Yasuke and Naoe brace for an intense confrontation with what looks like a giant, possibly robotic foe.
To top it off, they shared a version of the video on an old-school CRT television, complete with chunky features and stickers, really nailing the retro vibe. Somewhere out there, an alternate universe exists where a 6-year-old is absolutely thrilled to catch Guerreiros das Sombras after school every day.
