Ayaneo, known for its popular handheld gaming consoles, has just unveiled their newest flagship model: the Ayaneo 3. This latest device builds on the success of its predecessor, maintaining a similar design and button arrangement, but boasting significant hardware upgrades.
As detailed on Ayaneo’s blog, buyers can choose between two processor options for the Ayaneo 3: an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The console is equipped with a seven-inch high-refresh-rate screen, available in both LCD and OLED HDR options, which promises an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, they’ve included two new buttons on the back of the console, providing gamers with even more control options.
However, Ayaneo has been tight-lipped about some of the specifics. We are still waiting to hear more about details like RAM, storage, and pricing. Reflecting on the Ayaneo 2, which ships with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage starting at 512GB up to 2TB, with prices ranging from $1,099 to $1,549 for the limited-edition model, we can speculate that the Ayaneo 3 may offer similar configurations, likely at a slightly steeper price.
Incorporating the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, the Ayaneo 3 is among the first handheld consoles to utilize this processor. Although many current games don’t leverage the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) of the HX 370, its additional four cores, Zen 5 architecture, and integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU certainly make the Ayaneo 3 a powerhouse, surpassing even some of the best PC gaming handhelds that typically feature the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The launch of the Ayaneo 3 will see it enter a crowded market filled with excellent options. Devices like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two are anticipated to arrive later this year or at the start of 2025.
