Industry veteran Dino Patti has reclaimed ownership of Jumpship from Thunderful.
According to a report from GI.biz, Patti, previously associated with Playdead, intends to revitalize the studio with fresh perspectives. He co-founded Jumpship alongside Chris Olsen in 2017, and they successfully released their first game, Somerville, in 2022.
In that same year, Thunderful, a European gaming company, acquired Jumpship. Patti has also invested in Sad Owl Studios, the team behind Viewfinder.
The specifics of these transactions remain undisclosed.
“I can’t reveal everything just yet, but I genuinely think the current investment and publishing setup has become stagnant,” Patti commented.
“It’s in desperate need of a revamp to better support talented game developers and, most importantly, the gamers themselves.”
“Jumpship has always been about exploring the depths of emotions, storytelling, and innovation in gaming. My aim is to steer the company in a fresh direction while remaining faithful to that core vision.
“This goes beyond mere business; it’s about rekindling the passion and vision that originally ignited Jumpship—while pushing it further than we’ve ever dared before.”
