If you were eagerly anticipating a second season of Agatha All Along, I’ve got some unfortunate news to share. It seems the show’s lead creative, Jac Schaeffer, has opted out of continuing the series.
Let’s dive into some spoilers from the conclusion of Agatha All Along.
The series finally made its debut last year after the long wait following WandaVision, and it generally received a warm reception from fans. This positive feedback was largely due to the creative direction of Jac Schaeffer and a talented ensemble, including the legendary Patti LuPone from musical theatre. However, in a recent chat on Andy Cohen Live, LuPone revealed that we shouldn’t hold our breath for a follow-up season. The reason? Simply put, Marvel isn’t planning one. Reflecting on a conversation with Schaeffer, LuPone shared, “There won’t be one.” She added, “Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season.'”
During the interview, LuPone elaborated on Schaeffer’s decision not to pursue a second season. Apparently, it’s a consistent choice for Schaeffer, who also opted out of creating a second season for WandaVision. LuPone recounted, “[Schaeffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She mentioned, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She explained, ‘There’s too much to write,’ which is why she prefers one-offs. I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”
This revelation might be a letdown for fans of the initial season, but sometimes that’s just how the entertainment world rolls. For those yearning for a continuation of the WandaVision storyline, there’s some good news on the horizon. Vision Quest, a series centering on the character played by Paul Bettany, is in development, and it promises to bring back a surprise MCU character. So, there’s still something to look forward to!
