Fallout: New Vegas fans have a reason to perk up, as John Gonzalez, the game’s lead writer, has made his way back to Obsidian.
He announced his return via LinkedIn, confirming he’s back with the studio. However, fans who were hoping for a sequel to New Vegas will have to hold their excitement; Gonzalez clarified that he’s not working on Fallout: New Vegas 2. His journey with Obsidian first began back between 2008 and 2011, following a stint of over two years at Ubisoft’s Shanghai location.
After saying goodbye to Obsidian, Gonzalez took his talents to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions, diving into Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as the lead narrative designer for two and a half years. Next, he ventured to the Netherlands, teaming up with Guerrilla Games to craft the story for Horizon: Zero Dawn as the narrative director. He continued to expand his creative horizons with nearly three years at Smilegate in Barcelona.
Alongside his impressive work in the gaming industry, Gonzalez is also stepping into the literary world. He’s set to release a novel titled God Mode: Single Player in 2025, adding yet another exciting chapter to his career.
