Currently, Avowed doesn’t have a scheduled release for the PlayStation, but if you’re playing on PC, you can use some mods that let you pretend it is.
It’s hard to believe Avowed won’t eventually make its way to PlayStation, isn’t it? Xbox head Phil Spencer often emphasizes bringing games to multiple platforms. Even Halo is rumored to be headed to the Nintendo Switch 2. So, thinking Avowed will remain exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC forever seems unlikely. Personally, I prefer the PlayStation interface; it just feels more comfortable. But at this moment, those are your only options for playing.
There’s some good news, though! Our savior, the modding community, comes to the rescue once again. A mod is already available that changes the in-game controller UI to show PlayStation buttons instead. Engaging with objects with the square button or jumping with the cross button can make the experience feel more familiar. A modder by the name of NeuroticNinjah designed this simple yet effective mod, perfect for anyone impatient or who enjoys using a PlayStation controller on their PC.
But that’s not all! Another mod by Chachinito swaps out the Avowed splash screen with a PlayStation Studios one. While it doesn’t impact gameplay, it does offer a small dose of amusement for those who find themselves humorously disgruntled by its technical Xbox exclusivity. Because let’s face it, sometimes a little mischief can be quite entertaining.
We’ll just have to wait and see if Avowed reaches the PlayStation before any upcoming DLC or its potential sequel. Given how long these things usually take, I bet it will.
