After months of buzzing speculation, supposed leaks, and swirling rumors, Nintendo finally gave us a glimpse of the Nintendo Switch 2 last month, which comes as a welcome relief to those eagerly anticipating news on the next in line of their signature portable home consoles.
The brief reveal video not only highlighted the console’s sleek design, but also hinted at a new installment in the Mario Kart series. Importantly, it reassured fans that the Nintendo Switch 2 will maintain backward compatibility with games from its predecessor.
However, the company has provided some important details regarding game compatibility. While players can look forward to enjoying both physical and digital titles from the original Nintendo Switch library, Nintendo has noted that some games might not be either supported or fully compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2.
While we’re all eagerly awaiting this next-gen console, we do know it’s slated for a worldwide release in 2025, though an exact launch date hasn’t been pinned down just yet.
