Turtle Flip Studio offers a vibrant and cosmic multiplayer experience for up to four players with their game, Which Way Up: Galaxy Games. We’ve put together a review to give you a closer look at this title!
This local party game serves up a delightful array of 12 mini-games and features a roster of seven quirky characters, including Sprout, Prism, Luna, Sunny, Maggie, Spark, and Orbit. The mini-games you’ll get to dive into include Constellation Catch, Event Horizon, Gravapult, Comet Collect, Star Ring, Overload, Nebula Nab, Hole-in-One, Berry Barrage, Puff Panic, Bumper Stars, and Gastronomer. Additionally, there are single-player challenges to tackle, which we’ll discuss shortly.
Last year, Turtle Flip Studio turned to Kickstarter, aiming to raise AU$20,000 to bring the final stages of the game to completion. Despite a valiant effort and support from 170 backers, they couldn’t hit the target. However, this didn’t stop the team. They persevered and continued development, and now, in 2025, they are ready to launch on Nintendo Switch!
When you fire up the game, you’ll have three options: Practice, Single-Player, and Multiplayer. Practice Mode is perfect for learning the basics—you’ll use the left stick to maneuver your character and jump from planetoid to planetoid using the B button. Holding B lets you float around and the A button unleashes a Comet Push to whack opponents or propel yourself backward. Perfecting these moves prepares you for competitive play.
In Single-Player Mode, take on an adventurous journey through challenges that grow tougher as you progress. Aim for medals by nailing challenges quickly, which might require you to play and replay challenges using different characters to perfect your times! But the real highlight is the Multiplayer mode, designed to engage groups of friends in cosmic competition. Constellation Catch sees players racing through the cosmos to collect constellations, with a twist—opponents can snatch them from you if you’re not careful! Event Horizon challenges you to escape the gravitational pull of a black hole.
The mini-games offer heaps of variety. In Gravapult, you’ll launch bombs onto rivals’ planets while protecting your own. Comet Collect tasks you with controlling and gathering comets. Stay within a dynamic light in Star Ring, and pass unstable energy to opponents before it overpowers you in Overload. Strategize to win Nebula Nab by delivering Pips while disrupting opponents. Meanwhile, Hole-in-One is all about interstellar golfing skills.
In Berry Barrage, dodge or redirect jelly berries to avoid explosive blast berries. Puff Panic puts you amongst orbiting ruins near a fiery dragon, requiring nimble jumps to survive. Bumper Stars involves knocking foes off-screen using your Comet Push, while in Gastronomer, one player devours everything in their path, dodging the others who are trying to thwart them!
Available now on Nintendo Switch for $14.99, Which Way Up: Galaxy Games is a colorful ride packed with fun and friendly competition. Grab your controller and see if you have what it takes to master this cosmic party!
