NVIDIA and AMD are reportedly getting ready to release their budget-friendly GPUs this May, aiming to take the lead in the mainstream GPU market.
NVIDIA & AMD’s Plans to Capture the Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Currently, options for budget-conscious consumers are quite limited. NVIDIA’s latest models suffer from low stock, driving prices higher than the suggested retail values. Similarly, AMD’s RX 9070 series is in demand, making it tough to find one at its listed price. However, there’s some good news. According to a report by Benchlife, both companies seem to be gearing up to introduce new options for mainstream buyers, potentially as soon as next month.
Kicking off with NVIDIA, they’re expected to debut the GeForce RTX 5060 by May 19. This card will feature 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, running at speeds of 28 Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus. Compared to the RTX 4060, it will see a 35W increase in power usage. Here’s a breakdown of where the RTX 5060 stands compared to its generation predecessor:
- 25% More CUDA Cores
- Same Memory Capacity
- Faster GDDR7 Memory, likely 28 Gbps
- 64% More Bandwidth
- 30% Higher Power Usage
On AMD’s side, we’re looking forward to the launch of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, expected to be revealed on May 21 at Computex, though it might hit retail a bit later, possibly by June. Featuring the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, it comes in both 8GB and 16GB versions, similar to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. The RX 9060 XT boasts 2,048 Stream Processors, half of the RX 9070 XT, with game clocks set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks reaching 3230 MHz. It appears this GPU will perform impressively at 1080p/2K resolutions.
We’ll be on the ground at Computex 2025, delivering live updates on these NVIDIA and AMD releases, and hopefully, we can offer you some exclusive first looks. The battle for the mid-range GPU market is heating up, and May is shaping up to be a crucial month.
