The indie gaming landscape just got a new player as Pantaloon, known for its popular newsletter, unveils a fresh publishing label. This exciting step forward is already off to a promising start, featuring two intriguing titles: the narrative-driven “Sub-Verge” and the intriguing card game “Occlude.” Previously recognized as a resource and newsletter for indie developers boasting nearly 30,000 subscribers, Pantaloon is now expanding its horizons.
Founder Jamin Smith candidly acknowledged, “The world probably doesn’t need another indie publisher.” Yet, Pantaloon seeks to distinguish itself with a unique philosophy. By leveraging an established platform and offering novel terms that ensure both freedom and security to developers, the focus is to boldly embrace risk. The aim is to scout out those quirky or experimental titles capable of navigating unknown or tumultuous genre territories.
Pantaloon’s ethos, encapsulated in the phrase “A home for misfits,” serves as more than just catchy branding. It’s an invitation for games that defy conventional publishing molds to find a supportive and understanding environment.
