Sony is pushing the boundaries of cloud gaming by introducing streamable demos from the PS Store through PS Plus Premium. While streaming game trials has been possible for a while, players are excited to discover they can now bypass lengthy downloads, thanks to Sony’s latest expansion in cloud streaming technology.
Currently, select demos, such as the new release Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, can be streamed, as noted by users on Reddit. While these demos are accessible to everyone, PS Plus Premium subscribers have the added benefit of a special “Stream Demo” option.
Interestingly, cloud streaming isn’t limited to demos; free-to-play favorites like Fortnite and Destiny are also available through PS Plus Premium. However, it’s important to note that the availability of these streamable games may differ depending on your region.
Sony is making impressive progress with cloud streaming, which is still under beta testing on the PS Portal. Previously, playing over 200 games required a connection to a PS5, but now, a PS Plus Premium membership is all you need to dive into remote play, streaming directly without any extra hardware.
While this is an exciting development, Sony has yet to announce when cloud streaming will be universally accessible.
