Just when fans thought The Last of Us Part II had received its last update, Naughty Dog sprang a surprise announcement on us. On a seemingly ordinary Thursday in March, they revealed exciting new content for the beloved five-year-old game, delighting its dedicated fan base.
### Exciting Additions to No Return Mode in The Last of Us 2
Naughty Dog’s latest update primarily targets the PC version of The Last of Us 2, which is set to launch on April 3. This release is packed with fresh content for the game’s No Return mode, a roguelike survival challenge introduced with the PS5 remaster last year. In this update, players can look forward to stepping into the shoes of Bill, featuring a Smuggler playstyle, and Marlene, offering a Risk-Taker playstyle, both available in this much-loved mode.
But that’s not all—the update includes four brand-new maps: Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest. Trophy hunters will be particularly excited by this, as they’ll have the opportunity to earn new trophies along with these additions.
In a nod to what’s next for Naughty Dog, a new skin for Ellie, inspired by their upcoming game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, will also be included. Players can customize Ellie with Jordan A. Mun’s red jacket, reminiscent of its reveal at The Game Awards 2024, by using in-game bonus points to unlock this stylish attire.
All these fantastic additions will be available at no extra cost with the PC release of The Last of Us 2, all bundled in the anticipated 2.0.0 patch.
The timing couldn’t be better, as this influx of new content arrives just over a week before The Last of Us Season 2 makes its debut on Max. Fans of the show can mark their calendars for April 13 when the series returns, featuring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey reprising their roles as Joel Miller and Ellie Williams. Newcomer Kaitlyn Dever joins the cast as Abby Anderson, promising to deliver another season of captivating storytelling.
